Roskomnadzor demanded that search engines remove the sites of 11 hosting providers from search results due to their refusal to open representative offices in Russia

Roskomnadzor demanded that Russian search engines remove the sites of 11 of the world's largest hosting providers from search results due to refusal to comply with the requirements of the law on the “landing” of IT companies.

1Article«They are dragging us into the stone age from the information age.» RKN obliged Yandex and Google to mark sites that “violated Russian legislation”

We are talking about GoDaddy, Amazon Web Services, Ionos, HostGator, Bluehost, Hetzner, Digital Ocean, WP Engine, Network Solutions, DreamHost and Kamatera .

They were the first to whom such a measure was applied. At the time of writing the news, Yandex and the VK search engine Mail.ru did not hide their sites.

Of the largest hosting providers, restrictions did not affect Google Cloud. At the same time, since September, a number of other Google services have been marked in Russian search engines, including Yandex, with the mark “RKN: the site violates the law of the Russian Federation.” Google, as part of the “landing” law, also banned advertising of its services in Russia in the spring of 2022.

IT companies that Roskomnadzor obliged to comply with the “landing” law, which came into force in the summer of 2021, must open a branch in Russia, register a personal account on the Roskomnadzor website and place a feedback form on your website. The 11 hosting providers listed by Roskomnadzor, according to the agency’s database, did not fulfill any of the requirements.
