MOSCOW, October 26 One of the founders of the British rock group the Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney, said that the latest song of the Fab Four, Now and Then, with vocals by John Lennon, will be released on November 2.
«»Now and Then will be released worldwide on Thursday, November 2. … A new music video for «Now and Then» will be released on Friday, November 3,» McCartney said in a statement on his official website.
The musician noted that Now and Then is the last Beatles song that John Lennon wrote and sang. McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr continued to work on the composition.
«…now the song is finally finished by Paul and Ringo after more than 40 years,» says a message on McCartney's website.
In addition, on November 1, a video about the making of the song will be released with exclusive footage and comments from the Beatles, Lennon's son Sean Ono-Lennon and director Peter Jackson, who previously filmed the documentary The Beatles: Get Back about the group.
On December 8, 1980, Lennon was shot in the back five times while he and his wife Yoko Ono were returning from the Hit Factory recording studio in New York. After 25 minutes, doctors pronounced Lennon dead from loss of blood. The killer Mark Chapman did not try to escape from the crime scene; the police found him there reading “The Catcher in the Rye” by Jerome Salinger. Before the planned murder, he tried to commit suicide several times and was treated for depression. In addition, Chapman admitted that he was plotting attempts on the lives of Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
