In the North Military District zone I had to meet very different people. And the former owner of a beauty salon, and the owner of a toy factory, and a businessman with hectares of pastures, and football fans. But this meeting was especially surprising. Meet “Viktorych” — a girl OMON fighter. Serves in the territory bordering the Northern Military District zone. She told how she manages to cope with the difficulties of a profession that is not at all female, and also where such an unusual call sign came from.
The call sign “Viktorych”, of course, is more suitable for a man over forty years old. And here is a pretty twenty-three-year-old long-haired blonde with an open smile and sparkling eyes, which is so characteristic of youth.
It turned out that the call sign had absolutely nothing to do with her father’s name.
It was like this. One day, after a combat shift, she decided to treat her colleagues and brought a cake and pies with cabbage. Then one of the fighters joked that for taking care of the squad’s nutrition, the beauty could be awarded the honorary title of chief cook. I immediately remembered that people called the head of the Wagner PMC, Evgeniy Viktorovich Prigozhin, the chief cook of Russia. From that moment on, the girl was no longer called anything else, only “Viktorych.”
She joined the squad as a “police officer of the OMON task force” just a couple of months ago. The profession for a girl is more than extraordinary, but she admits that she has had a craving for weapons and power loads since childhood. I enjoy not only shooting with a pistol and machine gun, but also other, less exciting, but necessary things, for example, assembling and disassembling and cleaning weapons. The girl is in good physical shape, professionally engaged in skiing.
In my interlocutor’s family, as she says, the only representative of law enforcement agencies is the grandfather, a colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but he did not help his granddaughter with getting a job. I had to achieve everything myself. The parents supported their daughter’s choice of profession.

According to the girl, her colleagues do not give her any special concessions. Still, the work is serious, and once you’ve decided, do what you’re supposed to do. However, they still care and patronize like brothers. She herself is convinced: no matter what, she must “keep up the brand of a fighter” and try to cope with all the hardships on her own.
Before we met, I already knew that my interlocutor had just returned from a business trip and was serving in one of the border regions, near the zone of a special military operation. Officially, this territory has not been declared a combat zone, however, judging by the number of shellings, strikes by Ukrainian drones and attempts at breakthroughs by Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups, it would be hard to call it peaceful.
This was Viktorich’s first business trip. The girl admits that she really wanted to go in order to help her colleagues in some way. There were no doubts about whether it was worth going. You can't get this experience at home.
The prospect of not the most comfortable living conditions didn’t bother me either. With this question, she admits, she was lucky. The conditions turned out to be very suitable for life. The guys brought a lot with them, for which many thanks to the sponsors. We quickly equipped a warm room: light, water, bathroom, kitchen. What else do you need for happiness?
This time the family reacted hard. They were very worried about their daughter and tried to dissuade her. But, as the girl admits, her determination prevailed here too.
— My word is law. Once I’ve decided, I’m going.
“Being next to a very demanding commander in a 24/7 mode,” the girl laughs. “But it’s more emotional.” Otherwise there weren’t any particular difficulties.
«Viktorych» was appointed responsible for ensuring adequate nutrition for the soldiers. She also served at posts and on the border, along with men. They moved in at night and slept during the day. The most difficult thing was to cope with the tension, because on patrol you need to be as concentrated as possible and completely invisible.
“I remember the night when we took over with the commander,” says the heroine. “Minefields were exploding nearby, and we couldn’t even move, all our attention was on the thermal imager. It was tense, but we managed.
The girl was lucky; during her duty there were no attempts to break through by enemy saboteurs, but her colleagues had to deal with the enemy. “Viktorych” now knows first-hand what mortar shelling is. It flew onto the neighboring street, so much so that some houses were left without roofs. Her morale before the business trip helped her stay calm.
— To be honest, I was preparing for the worst. Therefore, I was ready.
I also managed to ignore the difficulties thanks to a positive attitude. The girl admits that what she remembers most is not the shelling and night watches, but the jokes that they exchanged with her all the way to the place of deployment.
— “So that there is peace in the whole world,” she smiles young woman. – This is if on a global scale, but for myself — simple female happiness. After all, no matter what a woman does and no matter how professional she is, her priority should be family. Although I’m not going to quit my service.
