On Sunday in Makhachkala, local residents broke into the airport runway after the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that it was decided to temporarily close Makhachkala airport for arrivals and departures; the measures will remain in effect until the situation normalizes. The regional government reported that an operational headquarters was created in Dagestan due to the situation at the Makhachkala airport, it was headed by the head of the republic Sergei Melikov, and an emergency meeting will be held in the near future.
