The mother of 22-year-old German citizen Shani Luk, who was kidnapped by Hamas militants in Israel, told NTV that her daughter was killed.
“Unfortunately, yesterday we received the news that my daughter is no more alive,” Ricarda Luk told reporters. According to her, she received this information from the Israeli military.
Later, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, in a conversation with the German television channel Welt, added that Shani Luk was beheaded. “Her skull has been found. This means that these barbaric, sadistic animals simply cut off her head as they attacked, tortured and killed Israelis,” he said. The girl's relatives received the results of a DNA examination, which confirms that the deceased was a 22-year-old German citizen.
Shani Luk was one of the visitors of the Supernova music festival kidnapped on October 7, which took place in Israel 30 kilometers from the border with the Gaza Strip. On October 10, a 22-year-old German citizen was identified by her mother in one of the Hamas videos — in the video, the girl was lying in a pickup truck among militants, face down on the floor, with blood on her head. Ricarda Luk later reported that her daughter may be in a hospital in the Gaza Strip with a severe head injury, and asked German authorities to help evacuate her.
After the Hamas attack on the Supernova music festival, Israeli rescuers found no bodies less than 260 people, many of the event's visitors were also captured by the militants.
