Activist Sergei Ryzhov, convicted in the Artpodgotovka case, was released from prison

Supporter of the Artpodgotovka movement Sergei Ryzhov, convicted in the case of preparing a terrorist attackand storage of explosives, released from prison. His lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina reported this on Facebook.

FSB officers detained Ryzhov in November 2017. According to investigators, he planned to seize the central square and several administrative buildings in Saratov with the help of Molotov cocktails and TNT blocks. The activist himself denied all the charges and insisted that the TNT block was planted on him during his arrest.

In October 2021, the court sentenced Ryzhov to six years in prison. The prosecution asked to sentence him to 10.5 years in prison.

In the pre-trial detention center, Ryzhov broke his femoral neck while playing volleyball with other prisoners. The activist did not receive proper treatment for a year and a half. He lay in a cast for several months without getting up and complained of pain. Lawyer Sidorkina said that her client’s knee joint practically stopped bending. As a result, the operation was successfully carried out in the Samara regional clinical hospital.
