FAS opened 22 cases after checking gasoline prices

Territorial bodies of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS ) initiated 22 antimonopoly cases in the fuel market in 14 Russian regions. The department's press service reported this on Wednesday, November 1.

The FAS explained these measures by the need to stabilize the price situation with fuel and create an additional volume of supply of petroleum products on the exchange.

5 October, antimonopoly officials pointed out to large companies and independent gas stations the need to reduce the cost of fuel due to a decrease in prices on the stock exchange. The FAS warned that the absence of appropriate steps will be regarded as a violation of antimonopoly legislation.

According to the leading analyst of the National Energy Security Fund, expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Igor Yushkov, the authorities’ attempts to regulate the rate of growth in gasoline prices at the level of inflation are unlikely to succeed.
