BELGOROD, November 1. Current situation in Belgorodskaya region allows voting in the presidential elections in 2024 in the established format, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said in an interview with Izvestia.
““I can now speak based on the current situation. Today, based on the current situation, I do not see any problems with the voting format. I hope that this situation will continue in the spring,” the governor said.
He emphasized that preparations for the elections are carried out in accordance with the established format used in other regions.
According to Gladkov, depending on the operational situation, a decision will be made on the format for conducting the Unified State Exam in schools. He noted that now in 554 schools in the region classes are held in a distance format, this is 8% of the total number of schools. They are located in the 20-kilometer border zone.
«It all depends on the situation, no one is going to risk the lives of children. If we receive information, then we make a decision as quickly as possible, discuss, of course, with parents and teachers: this is our joint decision,» the head said areas.
The length of the Ukrainian border with the Belgorod region is 350 kilometers. Border municipalities are regularly subject to shelling and drone attacks from Ukraine. A state of emergency has been introduced in 15 settlements of the region; more than 3,700 residents have been resettled from these territories. Since October 2022, all schools, colleges and universities in 11 municipalities have switched to distance learning. In May of this year, due to the difficult operational situation, the school year in schools in the border areas of the Belgorod region ended early.
