MOSCOW, October 31 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Georgy Filimonov as acting governor of the Vologda region, according to the Kremlin website.
«In connection with the statement of the Governor of the Vologda region Oleg Aleksandrovich Kuvshinnikov about the early termination of powers… I decide: 1. Accept the resignation of the Governor of the Vologda region Kuvshinnikov at his own request ; 2. Appoint Georgy Yuryevich Filimonov as acting Governor of the Vologda Region until the person elected Governor of the Vologda Region takes office,» the document says.
The head of state thanked Kuvshinnikov for the work done and noted that he was counting on him and Filimonov working together work.
Georgy Filimonov was born on February 23, 1980. In 2003 he graduated from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN). From 2005 to 2009, he served as advisor to the Russian Presidential Office for Foreign Policy. In 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region. He took up this position for the second time on September 19, 2023.
Received the President's gratitude for his services in preparing and hosting the G8 summit in St. Petersburg in 2006.
