Russia has found a way to save the springs of the Caucasian Mineral Waters

MOSCOW, Nov 2 . An intelligent automated system for the careful use of mineral water deposits is being created by NCFU scientists. According to them, the development will help stop the destruction of sources of a unique natural resource in the North Caucasus. The results were published in the collection of the XXVI International Conference on Soft Computing and Measurements.
In 2021, Rosprirodnadzor reported that mineral springs in the North Caucasus are in a dangerous condition. As the department’s specialists noted, the extraction of mineral water is carried out with violations and without a comprehensive plan, and the upper water horizon has already become unsuitable for drinking.
To stop the loss of a unique natural resource, a team of scientists from the North Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) is developing an information system that allows flexible management of the condition of deposits.

“Our development will make it possible to carefully use the resources of deposits, avoiding excessive load. An algorithm based on Bayesian networks and forecasting methods estimates the volume of water steadily flowing from the source, as well as the probability of production deviation from the planned indicators,” said Karina Martirosyan, associate professor of the department of control systems and information technologies of NCFU.

New system , according to the creators, takes into account precipitation of all types and various economic incentives for water selection, allowing one to predict and adjust the stability of the deposit taking into account the needs of consumers.

«Strategies for the rational use of hydromineral resources are studied at our university more than 20 years. The introduction of intelligent technologies for the exploitation of the hydromineral base is one of the urgent tasks of sustainable development of the North Caucasus,” Martirosyan noted.
The next stage of the project, as the scientists explained, should be the development of an interface for a new system that will allow automatic management of the state deposits. The study was carried out within the framework of the Priority 2030 program, of which NCFU is a participant.
