MOSCOW, November 3, Oleg Bogatov. Mixed martial arts athlete ( MMA) Rakhim Midaev was forced to shave his hair at the weigh-in in order to meet the required weight category limit at the tournament in Yekaterinburg, the press service of the promotion company RCC reported.
Midaev will meet Evgeniy Ignatiev in a bantamweight fight (up to 61.2 kilograms) at the RCC Intro 30 tournament on Saturday, this will be the main fight of the evening.
“»Some controversial issues arose in the morning: because of 50 grams, I had to shave off my hair. I don’t know what the opposing team saw in these 50 grams, but they flatly refused to accept the fight. Usually professional fighters do not refuse a fight because of 50 grams. There are sports ethics that fighters follow, but Ignatiev bypassed this point, and from a human point of view it was not very good,” the press service quotes Midaev as saying.
Midaev won 13 fights and lost one. Ignatiev has 20 wins, two draws and two defeats.
