MOSCOW, Nov 4. The United States found itself in isolation after the recent votes in the UN General Assembly, this opinion was expressed by Senator Alexey Pushkov.
“Recently, the United States remains in a clear minority or quasi-lonely in voting at the UN,” the senator wrote in his Telegram channel.
He recalled that 187 countries spoke at the UN General Assembly in favor of lifting the US economic embargo on Cuba, 120 countries spoke in favor of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and only 12 countries voted against the US and Israel.
» And on Cuba, even Ukraine, the only one, by the way, abstained. However, if it had voted together with the United States, it would have found itself isolated. Just like the hegemon,» Pushkov summed up.
During the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, it was adopted resolution «The need to end the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba.» 187 countries voted for the resolution. The USA and Israel were against it, Kyiv abstained. Moldova, Somalia and Venezuela did not vote.
At the end of October, the General Assembly also adopted a resolution of Arab countries calling for an immediate truce in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, leading to a cessation of hostilities. 120 countries, including Russia, voted for the document, 14, including the United States, were against, 45 abstained.
