MOSCOW, November 3. Damage from riots at Makhachkala airport could amount to hundreds of millions of rubles, the Investigative Committee reported on the Telegram channel.
“
"According to preliminary data, the damage caused as a result of the riots amounted to hundreds of millions of rubles. The necessary examinations have been ordered to determine the exact amount of damage,” the publication says.
The Investigative Committee emphasized that they had identified more than 20 suspects — active participants in the events. The department reminded that participation in mass riots, which are accompanied by violence and pogroms, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, and for organizing them — up to 15 years.
On Sunday evening, residents of Makhachkala broke through on the runway of Uytash Airport, where the flight from Tel Aviv arrived. It was reported that they were looking for Israeli citizens who had arrived, and also checked cars leaving the territory. Riots began.
The air harbor was temporarily closed, planes that were supposed to land in the capital of Dagestan were redirected to alternate airfields. Security forces arrived at the scene, and soon the Federal Air Transport Agency announced the release of the runway from unauthorized people.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for organizing mass riots. The identities of 150 people were identified, 83 of them were detained. According to the Ministry of Health of Dagestan, more than 20 people were injured during the events at the airport — both security forces and civilians.
President Vladimir Putin said that the unrest that occurred was inspired, including through social networks, from the territory of Ukraine under the leadership of Western intelligence services.< br />
