MOSCOW, November 5. The West is shocked that Russia has withstood the sanctions, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov said during his speech at the educational marathon «Knowledge», reported Vedomosti.
“We were predicted to have a catastrophe commensurate with the 1990s,” he said.
According to Belousov, in 2022 Russia gained economic sovereignty and was able to independently implement its agenda. This opportunity is not available to all countries, the politician emphasized.
He named seven key conditions for achieving it: own resources for development (education, science and technology); efficient production and self-sufficiency in key resources (food, energy and raw materials); modern infrastructure (transport, energy, finance, digital infrastructure); effective institutions (laws and rules); stable positions in the global economy due to a built-up system of partnerships with other countries; macroeconomic stability (low inflation and low budget deficit); sustainable social development.
Only all these seven conditions are indicators of the country’s economic sovereignty, and Russia has every opportunity to ensure them, Belousov concluded.
