The court fined eight St. Petersburg residents who imitated the work of riot police on the street; the judge decided to confiscate their uniform

The magistrate of court district No. 210 of St. Petersburg fined 1,300 rubles eight local residents, who on October 28 imitated the work of riot police on Nevsky Prospekt. This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.

All of them were found guilty under protocols for illegally wearing uniforms with the symbols of law enforcement agencies (Part 1 of Article 17.12 of the Administrative Code). The judge ordered the confiscation of the uniform in which the St. Petersburg residents were in the city center.

In court, those involved in the administrative case explained that they did not agree with the protocols. According to them, the inscription OMON on the uniform meant “mobile detachment of mood organization.”

According to the press service, on October 28, St. Petersburg residents imitated the work of security forces on the street: they put people on the ground and beat them with sticks, “they used airsoft weapons,” thereby “creating a negative image of the work of law enforcement agencies” and “demonstrating disrespect for society.”

According to Mash on the Moika, these were actors of staged pranks. On October 30, a court in St. Petersburg sentenced 11 participants in the “imitation” to five days of arrest, finding them guilty of petty hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code).
