The Kursk Garrison Military Court imposed a two-year suspended sentence on a conscript who accidentally shot and killed 19-year-old colleague Andrei Rastyapin. Relatives of the deceased told MSK1 about this.
Rastyapin, who lived in Mytishchi near Moscow, served in the Shebekinsky district of the Belgorod region, which is located near the border with Ukraine and is regularly subjected to shelling. The conscript was killed on March 5.
“He (Rastyapin’s colleague — MZ) was returning from guard duty, pulled the bolt, and the machine gun accidentally fired. He hit Andrey, who was sleeping on the bed. Immediately to death,” Svetlana, the cousin of the guardian of the murdered conscript named Tatyana, told reporters.
In the publication the article under which the criminal case was initiated is not specified. Rastyapin's relatives also demanded compensation for moral damage from the defendant and the Ministry of Defense through the court.
“It is unknown whether we will get anything at all. These are clearly not the multimillion-dollar payments that are promised. We will give some of them to the lawyer, and it is unknown whether there will be anything left at all,” Svetlana added.
The deceased Rastyapin was called up for service after graduating from college. “He had a dream since school. At first he wanted to just go to the teaching staff, then to the riot police. Through his acquaintances, he ended up joining the police for practice. They took him on trips, they “received” him there. drug addicts. In short, he liked it very much,” recalls Andrei’s friend Danil.
