Sports career Born in April 1986 in Michurinsk, Ivanov is an international master of sports of Russia, he has gold and silver at the European Championships, as well as a victory at the Russian Amateur Championship. The boxer’s career, judging by the information on the authoritative BoxRec portal, lasted from 2007 to 2015. During this time, the Russian had 65 amateur fights, 53 of which ended in victory (six of them were knockouts).
The representative of the light heavyweight category also encountered star rivals:
- Dmitry BIVOL. The meeting with the current holder of the World Boxing Association (WBA) title took place in 2014 and ended in defeat by unanimous decision;
- Arthur BETERBIEV. Five years earlier, the champion according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) defeated Ivanov on points.
Also in 2009, the Russian had to fight with the famous < strong>Alexander GVOZDIK: the victory went to Ivanov due to the absence of the Ukrainian.
Resonant fight on the train We note that the former member of the Russian national team already had problems with the law. In the fall of 2020, a drunken Ivanov got into a fight with his fellow boxer Bassir Mirsiyabov on a train — as a result of the fight, the latter was hospitalized in serious condition and was even connected to a ventilator. Fortunately, everything worked out well: the doctors managed to save Mirsiyabov, while Ivanov was detained, but did not suffer serious punishment for what happened. A year later, the boxer had to pay four thousand rubles for traveling on public transport without gloves during the coronavirus pandemic.
This time Ivanov faces a much harsher punishment. If guilt for the shooting near a Moscow restaurant is proven, the athlete may end up behind bars.
UPD. The boxer was taken into custody. On Tuesday, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow arrested Ivanov until January 2024 after being charged under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism). The defense and the accused insisted on a more lenient measure of restraint. Ivanov said that he was sorry that people had suffered, expressed his readiness to pay for their treatment, and added that he was helping the SVO participants and even transferred several million rubles to them.
