MOSCOW, Nov 7.< /strong>The next point where humanity can go after exploring the Moon may be not only Mars, but also its satellites, said Sergei Krikalev, executive director for manned programs at Roscosmos.
““Mars or the satellites of Mars will be the next point,” Krikalev said at the conference “Earth — Orbit — Deep Space”.
According to him, the lunar program is now identified as a priority and the Earth’s natural satellite will become an “intermediate step” before manned flight to other solar planets systems. It is here that the technologies necessary for this will be developed.
For now, a manned flight to Mars, taking into account the level of development of medicine and other technologies, is impossible, Krikalev clarified.
Mars has two satellites — Phobos and Deimos. They, like the Moon towards the Earth, are always turned to Mars with one side, but are much smaller than the Earth’s natural satellite.
