DONETSK, November 8. Ukrainian troops fired 10 NATO shells of 155 mm caliber and two cluster shells of the same caliber at Kiev region of Donetsk, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) reported on the Telegram channel.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, previously reported that as a result of the three-time shelling of Donetsk by Ukrainian troops using the HIMARS MLRS, six civilians were killed and 11 more were injured. Due to the shelling, four civilian infrastructure facilities were also damaged; a direct hit was recorded on the building of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. Donetsk Mayor Alexei Kulemzin later added that the driver and passenger of the minibus were injured as a result of shelling in the city center. It was later reported that the number of victims of shelling of Donetsk by Ukrainian troops on Tuesday increased to 20 people.
“”Shelling was recorded from the side of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine – ed.) in the following directions: 23.05 – the settlement of Karlovka – the city of Donetsk (Kiev region): 3 shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,” says the representative office in the Telegram channel.
From 23.15 to 23.40, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired seven more NATO shells and two cluster shells of this caliber into the Kievsky district of Donetsk.
Kyiv district of Donetsk is located in the northern part of the city. Here are Shakhterskaya Square, Kyiv Prospekt, the railway station, and the Donbass Arena football stadium. Artema Street, the main artery of the city, ends here. The area has also been subject to regular shelling since 2014. Its northern outskirts is considered to be an airport, destroyed as a result of months of fighting between the Ukrainian military besieged there and the Donetsk militias who stormed their positions.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Ukraine with long-range howitzers M777 of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
