MOSCOW, November 9. The management of Moscow “Lokomotiv” made a decision the revival of the second team will be officially announced before the end of the year, a source familiar with the situation said.
In June 2022, Lokomotiv decided not to enter the second team Kazanka into the Second League — the third strongest division of the Russian championship. The club took this step “after a thorough analysis in order to build an optimal model for preparing reserves.” It was noted that the updated structure will significantly improve the approach to the development of the Lokomotiv youth team, and the Kazanka brand will be preserved — under this name the team will compete in the Moscow championship among amateur football clubs.
““A fundamental decision has been made to revive the second team. It will be officially announced before the end of the year,” the agency’s interlocutor said. The source noted that the question remains open about what name the team will play under.
Kazanka was founded in 2017. Until the closure, the team played in the third strongest division of Russian football, never achieving promotion.
