The crossover of the Japanese brand, intended for the global market, will be presented in a week, on November 14, ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Toyota published a teaser of a future unnamed new product a couple of weeks ago, which showed part of the stern with nameplates and a taillight. Then we assumed that the photo was hiding a SUV, which in Japan is presented under the name Crown Estate. Now the manufacturer has officially confirmed that a corresponding crossover intended for North America (and the global market as a whole) is being prepared for presentation. This new product will be called Toyota Crown SUV.

The manufacturer said that the official presentation of the Toyota Crown SUV will take place in about a week, ahead of the auto show in Los Angeles, November 14. The company's announcement was accompanied by a new teaser, which also shows part of the stern. However, this teaser did not show anything new: the rear of the Toyota Crown Estate SUV, which is intended for the Japanese market, is designed in a similar way.

The previous teaser also showed a nameplate that lifts the veil of secrecy over the “filling” of the crossover: on the North American market the new product will be available with a HEV hybrid installation (without the possibility of recharging from the mains) and all-wheel drive. Details about the technology will be known during the presentation.

As Kolesa.ru noted earlier, there is a possibility that the crossover will share the range with the American all-wheel drive Toyota Crown sedan. Its line includes two hybrids — the first is based on a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, working in tandem with a pair of electric motors and an electromechanical variator (total output — 239 hp); the second installation is based on a 2.4-liter turbo engine, which comes complete with one electric motor on the rear axle and a six-speed automatic transmission (total power — 345 hp).
According to preliminary data, the five-seater Crown SUV will be based on the GA-K platform, on which the already mentioned family sedan is also based. It is likely that the global crossover will have the same dimensions as the version for the domestic market: its length is 4930 mm, width – 1880 mm, height – 1620 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2850 mm. Such an SUV will be comparable to the Toyota Highlander crossover with local registration (it is 4950 mm long, and its wheelbase is the same as the Japanese Crown Estate).
Meanwhile, the true successor to the Toyota Crown entered the Japanese market: the classic sedan received rear-wheel drive and two settings to choose from. It is possible that in the future this representative of the Crown family will reach dealers in the States.
