MOSCOW, Nov 10 Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education agreed to recognize all academic degrees awarded in Russia, said the country's Minister of Education Mohamed Khaled Nordin following a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov. The minister's words were quoted by the Malaysian news agency Bernama.
«The Ministry of Higher Education has agreed to recognize all academic degrees awarded by the relevant bodies of the Russian Federation or the Federal Service for Supervision of Education and Science,» he said.
According to him, this week Malaysia and Russia signed eight memoranda of understanding with the participation of higher education institutions of both countries in order to strengthen and expand cooperation in various fields. The countries agreed to create a joint research laboratory with the participation of the Higher School of Economics, increase student mobility, create grants and joint academic and research programs, promote the Russian and Malay languages, and transfer technology.
«This cooperation in the field of education will further expand educational opportunities and promote cultural exchange and language learning, with an emphasis on promoting the Russian language in Malaysia and the Malay language in Russia,» the Malaysian minister noted.
Earlier, the Russian government reported that for the first time in four years, a meeting of the joint Russian-Malaysian commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, headed by Falkov, was held in Kuala Lumpur. The Russian delegation invited the discussion participants to a number of major events that will take place in Russia in 2024, in particular to the first ever international multi-sport tournament “Games of the Future”.
