BRUSSELS, 10 Nov. The European Union is studying additional restrictive measures against the Palestinian movement of Hamas, which is already recognized as a terrorist organization in the European Union, a senior European source told reporters in Brussels.
“We have considered Hamas a terrorist organization for more than 20 years. We are open to discussing new measures against Hamas, possibly introducing personal sanctions against specific individuals, leaders,” said the European representative.
He suggested that the EU might think about how to deal with the financing of Hamas. “We are open to such ideas,” the European representative said.
At the same time, he said that he had no information about any proposals to impose sanctions against Israel over the operation in the Gaza Strip.< br>
