MOSCOW, November 12. The Washington Post named 48-year-old Ukrainian Colonel Roman Chervinsky as the “coordinator” of the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
As the publication notes, citing sources, the colonel did not act alone and was not involved in planning the operation.
““Chervinsky obeyed the orders of higher-ranking Ukrainian officials, who ultimately obeyed … (commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – ed.) Valery Zaluzhny,” sources familiar with how the operation was carried out told the newspaper.
According to the newspaper, he himself Chervinsky denies his role in undermining Nord Streams.
Trap for Wagner Chervinsky, according to the publication, in 2020 also oversaw a plan to “lure” the Wagner group to Belarus in order to capture them and send to Kiev.
The newspaper claims that the colonel conducted many secret operations against Russia.
“In 2020, Chervinsky oversaw a complex plan to lure fighters from the Russian mercenary group Wagner to Belarus with the aim of capturing them and bringing them to Ukraine to face charges,” the article says.
In mid-May, the Ukrainian publication Strana reported that that the Kiev Court of Appeal left in custody ex-military Roman Chervinsky, who last summer tried to hijack a Russian Aerospace Forces plane, which led to a missile attack on the Kanatovo airfield in the Kirovograd region.
“Ukrainian trace” Explosions occurred on September 26, 2022 at two Russian gas export pipelines to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden have not ruled out targeted sabotage. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office initiated a case on an act of international terrorism.
In March, the American newspaper The New York Times reported the presence of intelligence information according to which a certain pro-Ukrainian group was behind the attack on Nord Streams; its plans were not necessarily known to the Kiev leadership.
In August, the German television channel ZDF and the publication Spiegel confirmed that the traces allegedly lead to Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin called this version “complete nonsense.” According to him, such an explosion “could only be carried out by specialists, supported by the full power of the state, which has certain technologies.” The Russian leader added that the United States is theoretically interested in incidents such as explosions at Nord Stream in order to supply its LNG to Europe.
American journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh published his investigation in February, according to which the explosive devices under Russian gas pipelines were laid in June 2022 under the cover of the Baltops exercise by US Navy divers with the support of Norwegian specialists. According to Hersh, the decision on the operation was made by US President Joe Biden.
As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted on November 8, Moscow still cannot get a clear answer from the West regarding the investigation into the Nord Stream bombing; they are hiding all information on this topic.
