A quarter of Russian companies want to purchase domestic servers

MOSCOW, November 12. A quarter of Russian companies want to purchase domestic servers by the end of 2023, and slightly less — 21% — want to purchase data storage systems, follows from research of the Aquarius Group of Companies, available at our disposal.
“Almost half of the surveyed customers plan to purchase (domestic — ed.) servers (25%) and data storage systems (storage systems, 21%) by the end of 2023. The remaining purchases will be distributed among all-in-one PCs (17%), PCs (16%), laptops (11%) and tablets (10%),” says the study, which covered 305 companies from 16 industries.

They noted that mainly representatives of the scientific sphere and the financial sector spoke about the purchase of servers — 42% and 30%, respectively. According to experts, such a request is associated with an increase in the volume of processed information. In turn, financial organizations and companies in the oil and gas sector plan to purchase data storage systems by the end of the year. At the same time, more than a third of respondents report maintaining this year’s budget at the 2022 level.

The largest increase in budget costs in connection with procurement — up to 20% — will be for companies in the construction and housing and communal services segment, as well as for the financial sector and industry, and budget cuts will affect a number of state-owned enterprises and companies from spheres of trade.
The press service clarified that as demand for Russian equipment grows, production capacity in the country also grows. It is clarified that this was influenced, among other things, by the policy of protectionism on the part of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the active support of Russian manufacturers.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, stated that the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation are discussing a ban on the parallel import of heavy computer equipment — servers and data storage systems — from unfriendly countries, for which there are competitive Russian analogues. Later, in October, he stated that in Russia there is no need to limit the parallel import of servers and data storage systems — it should be maintained in the current volume, but at the same time reduce the possibility of price dumping for foreign equipment.
