
DUBAI, November 13. In Russia, preparations have begun for the production of the first samples of light fighters of the fifth generation Checkmate, the press service of the Rostec state corporation reported on the eve of exhibition Dubai Airshow 2023.
The foreign premiere of Checkmate took place at this airshow in 2021.

“Based on the work carried out, changes were made to the project, which also adjusted the timing of the first flight. Today, the design documentation has been transferred to the manufacturing plant, preparations for the production of the first samples have begun,” the state corporation said.
After the Checkmate presentation, the company organized feedback with potential customers, adjusted the cost of the project and individual technical solutions.
“This has significantly increased the competitiveness and commercial attractiveness of the domestic single-engine aircraft, and also reduced the technical risks during its creation,” Rostec emphasized.
Checkmate is the first fifth-generation single-engine aircraft in Russia, developed by the Sukhoi company (part of to the United Aircraft Corporation «Rostec»). It was first presented in July 2021 at the MAKS-2021 aerospace salon.
The key features of the machine are stealth, low cost per flight hour, open architecture and high performance in terms of cost-effectiveness.
The payload weight exceeds seven tons. The fighter will be able to simultaneously hit up to six targets. The aircraft's speed will be Mach 1.8, and its combat radius will be three thousand kilometers. The installation batch of Checkmate is planned to be produced in 2026.
