MOSCOW, November 13, Andrey Mikhailov. Fans purchased about 15 thousand tickets for the match between the national teams of Russia and Cuba, the communications service of the Russian Football Union (RFU) reported.
The match between the national teams of Russia and Cuba will take place on November 20. The meeting will take place in Volgograd at the 45,000-seat stadium that hosted the 2018 World Cup games.
“At the moment, more than 15 thousand tickets have been sold for the Russia-Cuba match,” the RFU communications service reported.
The match with the Cubans will be the third home match for the Russian team after being suspended from international competitions in February 2022. On March 26, the Russian team played in St. Petersburg with the Iraqi team (2:0), and on October 12 they played a match against the Cameroon team in Moscow (1:0).
In February 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) published a joint statement according to which Russian national teams and clubs were suspended from participation in international competitions for an indefinite period due to the events in Ukraine. In the fall of 2023, the organizations clarified that the sanctions will not be lifted until the completion of the SVO. In total, after the sanctions began, the Russian national team played ten friendly matches (three wins, six draws, one defeat).
