Kyiv District Court of Kharkov sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property a 38-year-old local resident accused of pointing a Russian missile at the regional administration building in 2022. This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
As the Suspilne publication clarifies, the sentence was handed down to Denis Panikarov. He was found guilty of treason , dissemination of materials justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, illegal firearms recyclingand illegal handling of weapons< /span>.
According to the court, from February to April 2022, Panikarov collected information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the infrastructure of Kharkov and sent it on social networks to two women working for the Russian special services. One of them lives in Moscow, and in 2014 she was a nurse in the self-proclaimed DPR; the second, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, runs the “Save Donbass” foundation.
The court concluded that on February 28 last year, Panirov sent one of the women the coordinates of the Kharkov regional administration and other addresses of other buildings that Russian troops eventually struck. During the search, a carbine, cartridges for a pistol and a grenade body were found on the Kharkov resident.
As the prosecutor's office clarified to Suspilna, this is the first life sentence in the Kharkov region against the gunner. Pakikarev, the publication writes, did not admit guilt and “is counting on an exchange, because he wants to go to relatives and friends in Russia.”
Russia launched a missile strike on the central square of Kharkov, where the regional administration is located, March 1, 2022 of the year. The building was almost completely destroyed. The attack killed 44 people.
