NOVO-OGAREVO, November 15. Use by voters commissions of modern standards have allowed us to achieve a significant increase in confidence in elections, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with members of the Central Election Commission and heads of regional election commissions.
“The use of modern standards by election commissions has allowed us to achieve a significant increase in confidence in both elections and the electoral system itself. This is recorded by all sociological studies,” he said.
According to the head of state, over the past thirty years, a good legislative and regulatory framework has been formed in the field of elections. At the same time, the Russian electoral system continues to improve, and maximum information openness is increasingly becoming its distinguishing feature, Putin noted.
As the president clarified, there are now more than 20 electronic services in the country on the portals of the State Services and the Central Election Commission . They provide a qualitatively new level of accessibility and transparency of electoral procedures and are no longer perceived as an innovation, but as a familiar electoral standard in Russia. They are used by voters, candidates, parties, observers, the media and the election commissions themselves, he added.
“
"The electronic voting system is being actively implemented, this experience has already been tested in 30 regions. Ella Alexandrovna (Pamfilova, head of the Central Election Commission — Ed.) once proved to me the advantages of this form of voting and, in fact, she turned out to be right,” Putin emphasized.
Based on the results of the Unified Voting Day in 2020, 60 percent of VTsIOM respondents said they trusted the election results. In addition, in September last year, 69 percent of respondents reported that the elections in their region were held fairly, without serious violations, the Russian leader recalled.
