The young Chinese company Skywell presented the conceptual electric sedan Skyhome, which will soon turn into a production model and become the flagship of the Skywell passenger line.
The Skywell brand in China is known as Skyworth and is part of the diversified holding company Skyworth Group, which dates back to 1988. Skyworth was founded by Chinese entrepreneur Huang Hongsheng, he made his fortune in the production of televisions and video players. Since the beginning of the last decade, Skyworth has been developing new business lines. The subsidiary automobile company Skywell/Skyworth Auto was created in 2017 and in 2021 entered the domestic market with the first model. Last fall, the Skywell brand officially debuted in Russia.

At the moment, the passenger division of Skywell/Skyworth produces, in fact, only one model — a mid-size crossover in several electric and plug-in hybrid versions, the electric one is known in the Russian Federation as Skywell ET5, the hybrid one — as Skywell HT-i. In the Chinese passenger car market, Skyworth is still a very modest player; in the first ten months of this year, according to CAAM (China Automobile Manufacturers Association), it sold only 15,954 cars, but this is 30% more than in the previous period. Yesterday in China the premiere of the long-awaited completely new model took place: at the concept stage it received the name Skyworth Skyhome, and the future production version is designated by the factory index CE11.

The Skyworth Skyhome is based on the new CE platform with adaptive air suspension, with double wishbones at the front and multi-link at the rear. The dimensions of the Skyhome have not yet been indicated, but it is clear that it is a fairly large car with a spacious interior. The body has a coupe-like silhouette without a clearly defined third volume, so it can be called a fastback. The roof is completely transparent, an adjustable spoiler is installed above the rear window, and the rear-view mirrors are replaced with cameras. The body has no central pillars, the rear doors open against the main movement.

The salon has a rather intricately shaped front panel with a single instrument and multimedia display installed on it. The second row has two separate chair-beds with many adjustments. For rear passengers, there are three “TVs” at once — individual ones in the backs of the front seats and a wide movie screen that lowers from the ceiling if necessary. Passengers in the second row also have their own climate control unit, folding tables and a minibar.
Skyworth claims that the production sedan will be 90% the same as the concept, which is easy to believe: mentally add B-pillars to the concept, mirrors instead of cameras — and you have a sales sample.

O There is little technical information yet: it is known that the Skyhome is all-wheel drive, the maximum power of the twin-engine power plant is 460 kW (625 hp), acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds. The range per charge is not specified, but it is claimed that the high-voltage architecture of the CE platform will extend the range by 490 km in just 10 minutes. The chassis will be fully controlled, equipped with a third-level autopilot, generative artificial intelligence and a powerful audio system with 21 loudspeakers. In general, it is clear that the new Skywell/Skyworth model will definitely not be cheap; the debut of the production version is expected next year.
