MOSCOW, Nov 20— . Ukraine needs to start mobilizing young people aged 18-20, writes the publication «Strana.ua» with reference to Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter Pyotr Gorbatenko.
«We need to mobilize 20-year-olds, 18-year-olds, what's the problem? What about students? Well, what? Students shouldn’t fight? They should. They are suitable… The question is the approach to preparation,” he said.
Gorbatenko argues that it makes no sense to call up 50-year-old residents of Ukraine, since they are ineffective in battlefield and have many chronic diseases.
Earlier, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Sergei Rakhmanin, said that mobilization in Ukraine would be intensified, including due to losses at the front.
On Ukraine has been under martial law and a decree on general mobilization since February 2022. Men aged 18 to 60 are prohibited from leaving the country. Evasion from military service is a criminal offense punishable by up to five years in prison.
The summons can be served in different places. Videos of the forced mobilization of Ukrainians are regularly posted on the Internet. A representative of the military registration and enlistment office does not have to hand over the summons; this can also be done by the managers of the enterprise where the conscript works, the heads of the housing office, representatives of the house committee and other officials.
