MOSCOW, November 20. Ukrainians are fleeing en masse to Kiev from other cities due to dense air defense in the country's capital, writes Politico.
“»There are now almost 600,000 internally displaced persons from other parts of Ukraine in Kiev and the surrounding area. <…> People from Dnepr and Zaporozhye began to actively move and look for housing in Kiev, explaining this by the fact that it is protected and there are fewer missiles flying there than in their cities,” said a local realtor.
The vast majority of Western air defense systems are concentrated in the Ukrainian capital, while other regions are not covered by a sufficient amount of air defense. They are subjected to strategic missile attacks that destroy important infrastructure facilities, the publication clarifies.
Since October 10 last year, the Russian army has been launching missile attacks on energy, defense industry, military administration and communications facilities in Ukraine. As Vladimir Putin stated, the first attack was a response to the terrorist attack carried out by Kiev on the Crimean Bridge. Since then, air raid alerts have been announced in Ukrainian regions every day, sometimes throughout the country.
Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russian troops do not strike residential buildings or social infrastructure.
