MOSCOW, November 20 Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the family former governor of Kuzbass Aman Tuleyev, noting that a person of national importance has passed away, his biography is connected with turning points in history, the corresponding telegram was published on the Kremlin website.
The ex-governor of Kuzbass died at the age of 79, the current head said on Monday region Sergey Tsivilev.

A man of truly national significance, whose biography is connected with turning points in the history of Russia, has passed away. Aman Gumirovich always strived for creation, served Russia, and did a lot for Kuzbass. He was a real people's governor whom people trusted. We will preserve the good memory of Aman Gumirovich. Tuleev headed the Kemerovo region for more than 20 years — from 1997 to 2018. He resigned on April 1, 2018, having received a vacant mandate in the regional parliament. On April 10, 2018, the Council of People's Deputies of the Kemerovo Region elected Tuleyev as its chairman. He held this post until September 2018, when he became rector of KRIRPO.
