MOSCOW, November 22. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko spoke in favor of the speedy adoption of a law allowing private security companies to shoot down drones over fuel and energy complex facilities.
On November 9, the working group on the Northern Military District submitted to the State Duma a bill giving the right to private security at fuel and energy complex facilities to shoot down drones, said the head of the group, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrei Turchak. According to him, now only employees of law enforcement agencies, departmental security and private security companies who guard facilities with high requirements for anti-terrorist security have such an opportunity.
«The threat is serious. Private security structures do not have the right to fight with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles. A bill has been submitted to the State Duma that gives them this right. I will ask the Economics Committee and the Defense Committee — let's quickly adopt it. Security must be ensured» , — said the speaker during the “government hour” with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
According to the legislator, it is necessary to act with new methods, “in Budenovka a guard with a gun cannot do anything taking into account the new threats.”
