MOSCOW, Nov 22After the presidential elections in Russia, which are scheduled for March 2024, there is a high probability that some governors, for example, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov, may join the updated composition of federal authorities in connection with the formation of a new government of the Russian Federation and the presidential administration , follows from the report “XV Rating of Political Stability of Governors “State Council 2.0”, prepared by the Minchenko Consulting holding, which is available.
According to Chapter 6 of Article 116 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation resigns its powers to the newly elected president. < br>
“The formation of a new composition of the government of the Russian Federation and the presidential administration after March 2024 increases the likelihood that some governors may join the updated composition of federal authorities,” says the report of the Minchenko Consulting company.
The material notes that one of the potential candidates in the gubernatorial corps who could move to the federal level, “taking into account the experience of working in the governing structures of the central government,” could be Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, governor Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov, Governor of the Ivanovo Region Stanislav Voskresensky, Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko and Head of the Novgorod Region Andrei Nikitin.
«Another factor in the rotation of the gubernatorial corps after the presidential elections may be the appointment of ex-federal-level officials to the posts of regional heads in the event of their departure from the government of the Russian Federation or the presidential administration,» the report says.
Such reshuffles, it is assumed in the material, can be combined with the task of targeted rotations in those regions where gubernatorial elections are expected in 2024.
On a single voting day in September 2024, direct elections for governor will be held in 16 regions.
