This month, a new Ford SUV was spotted on the roads for the first time during testing. The available photographs allow us to imagine what the car will look like.
Ford's European model range has recently undergone significant changes. Thus, in the spring of last year, the once popular Mondeo sedan was discontinued, and just a few months later it became known that the company decided to get rid of another bestseller of past years — the Focus. This is due to the ever-increasing popularity of crossovers and, accordingly, the need to expand their offer. One of the fresh new products this year was the all-electric crossover Explorer EV, and soon the hero of this article will join it.

Ford has just released samples with a production body for testing, but you can already look at the main elements of the appearance. The new product will receive a so-called coupe-shaped body with sloping rear pillars. In the spy photos, it is noticeable that in many ways the crossover has something in common with the aforementioned electric Explorer: they have almost identical doors, a windshield with “hidden” A-pillars, mirrors, and door handles. The front part is similar in shape, but the “face” of the new product will be original. There will be horizontally elongated headlights with four curved LED bars in each, a narrow contrasting insert between them and a redesigned bumper. The differences will be even more noticeable, of course, at the rear: the sloping rear window on the test prototypes is devoid of a wiper and spoiler, the headlights are made narrower and will also most likely be visually united by a contrasting decorative insert. In addition, the new crossover will receive an increased rear overhang compared to the Explorer EV.

It can be assumed that in technical terms the new product will be close to the Explorer, which is built on Volkswagen’s modular MEB platform (it is used by most Volkswagen electric vehicles, Skoda Enyaq iV and Audi Q4 e-tron/Q5 e-tron crossovers). The crossover presented this year is offered with three power plants to choose from: The basic version has a single 170-horsepower electric motor located on the rear axle, the middle version received an electric motor with a power of 286 hp, and the top version was equipped with a dual-motor unit, the total output of which is 340 hp

The premiere of a new coupe-shaped crossover is expected next year. There is a possibility that it will receive the name Capri, which belonged to the company's sports cars produced from 1969 to 1986.
