MOSCOW, Nov 22 Two-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Elvira Saadi is appealing Gymnastics Canada's decision to remove her from coaching.
Previously, Gymnastics Canada deprived 71-year-old Saadi, who has resided in Canada since 1991, for ten years from membership in the organization and any regional branches. After this period, she will be prohibited from any coaching, refereeing or administrative activities.

In 2020, a complaint was filed against Saadi, accusing the coach of emotional and psychological abuse, publicly humiliating an athlete because of his weight, and encouraging eating disorders. She was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

Saadi, as a member of the USSR national team, won the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games in team competitions, as well as the 1974 World Championships.
