Russian customers will be offered the cross with two turbo engines to choose from. The new SUV will be the most expensive model of the brand.
The Chinese brand Kaiyi, which is partly owned by Chery, entered our market this year. Today, the line includes the Kaiyi E5 sedan, Kaiyi X3 and Kaiyi X3 Pro SUVs, all three models are produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. And soon another crossover will be added to the brand’s range – the flagship X7 Kunlun. It was announced that sales of the new SUV are scheduled to start in December. By the way, the local assembly is not mentioned in today’s release, but, most likely, “X-seventh” will also be registered on Avtotor.
The X7 Kunlun debuted in the Middle Kingdom last year, but sales there began only in the spring of 2023. If the Kaiyi E5 and X3/X3 Pro are redesigned Chery Arrizo 7 and Tiggo 4, then the older crossover has its own body and interior, although the technology is still from Chery. Exterior features of the Kaiyi X7 Kunlun are an impressive radiator grille, X-shaped running lights and taillights, retractable door handles and exposed dual exhaust pipes.
The Russian release gives the following dimensions: length — 4710 mm, width — 1964 mm, height — 1705 mm, wheelbase — 2800 mm. It is curious that in China the model has different dimensions: 4738/1968/1708 mm, the distance between the axles is 2820 mm.
Inside there is a truncated steering wheel and a virtual instrument panel, a 14.6-inch diagonal multimedia system touchscreen is installed in the center, below it there is a narrow touch strip with “hot” buttons, and even lower there are two platforms for wireless charging of smartphones. In China, the model also includes all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control and a lane keeping system. The SUV comes with a five- or seven-seater interior.

In the homeland of Kaiyi X7 Kunlun is available both only with an internal combustion engine and as a hybrid, but for RF only “traditional” versions were announced. The crossover will be offered with petrol turbo-fours 1.6 and 2.0 with a power of 186 and 238 hp. respectively (in China, the engines produce 197 and 254 hp), both engines are combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. A purely petrol SUV has exclusively front-wheel drive.
Specifications and prices of the Kaiyi X7 Kunlun for Russia will be revealed closer to the sales start date. However, it is already clear that the cross will be the most expensive model of the brand. In the meantime, this title belongs to the Kaiyi X3 Pro: an SUV with a 147-horsepower 1.5 turbo engine and a CVT will cost at least 2,514,900 rubles.
