SIMFEROPOL, November 22. State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik named a triumph of truth, a map with Russian Crimea published on the social networks of the European Parliament.
The European Parliament on Tuesday morning posted on its X network page a map dedicated to EU international trade, where Crimea was marked as part of Russia. This post caused indignation among subscribers, mainly Ukrainian, after which it was deleted. Later, the European Parliament apologized for the post and promised its readers to “correct.”
“The appearance of a map with Russian Crimea is a triumph of truth and justice, which is increasingly difficult for Western propagandists to hide in a bag. The Russian status of Crimea is no longer in doubt: neither in Europe nor overseas. But there is a certain politeness that they are forced to observe before Ukraine,» Belik said.
According to him, today the number of countries that see Crimea as Ukrainian can be counted on one hand.
“Those in the European Parliament who tear their shirts off their chests in statements about the Ukrainian status of Crimea, in fact understand perfectly well that the peninsula belongs to Russia and will remain Russian forever,” the deputy emphasized.
According to him, European officials, for various reasons, cannot voice what they really think about the status of Crimea, but an ordinary person, an employee of the European Parliament apparatus, who compiled the world map, without a second thought designated Crimea as it is is by definition Russian.
Crimea became a Russian region in March 2014 following the results of a referendum held after the coup in Ukraine. In the referendum, 96.77% of voters in Crimea and 95.6% in Sevastopol were in favor of joining Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea its temporarily occupied territory, and many Western countries support this position. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the residents of Crimea voted for reunification with Russia democratically, in full compliance with international law. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue is “finally closed.”
