MOSCOW, November 23. Police in the Moscow region detained suspects in fraud involving the leasing of special equipment, the cost of the stolen three cars exceeds 29 million rubles, the head of the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told reporters RF Tatyana Petrova.
According to her, a representative of an organization engaged in long-term rental of property wrote a statement to the police that the general director of the company “concluded leasing agreements with their company.”
“After receiving three dump trucks and one concrete mixer truck, the client stopped fulfilling the terms of the contract, did not return the equipment and turned off the GPS beacons installed on it. The cost of the stolen vehicles exceeds 29 million rubles,” Petrova said.
She noted that law enforcement officers detained the intruders in a rented apartment, where leasing agreements, corporate seals and other evidence of fraud were seized. There are reasons to believe that the detainees may be involved in committing similar crimes, Petrova said. “It was established that one of the defendants bought a company and appointed a nominee director. On his behalf, the attacker remotely submitted applications for the rental of special equipment, allegedly for business activities. After concluding transactions and remotely signing contracts, his accomplice took the cars by proxy,” said a police representative.
«Subsequently, the stated monthly payments were not made, and the special equipment was sold to third parties,» Petrova added.
The head of the press service reported that a criminal case had been opened for fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The defendants were taken into custody. The investigation continues.
