The Investigative Committee opened a case against two Tyumen teenagers under articles of sabotage (clause “a” of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code) and attempted destruction of vehicles and means of communication (part 3 of article 30; part 1 of article 267 of the criminal code). This was reported by the press service of the Central Investigation Department for Transport.
Both minors were taken into custody at the request of the investigator. Another teenager who allegedly acted with acquaintances, but was under age of criminal responsibility, placed in a temporary detention center for juvenile offenders.
According to investigators, on November 17, 2023, teenagers came to the Tyumen railway station of the Sverdlovsk Railway and set fire to a locomotive. At the beginning of the month, on November 1, they tried to set fire to three relay cabinets on the Utyashevo-Tyumen stretch, security officials believe.
“During interrogations, it was established that the arsonists acted on the instructions of people whom they met on social networks, who promised to pay a monetary reward for committing illegal actions,” added the press service of the investigative department.
About the arson of an electric locomotive in Tyumen reported Astra. According to the telegram channel, three approached the locomotive standing in the depot, opened the door on the driver’s side and put “some object” inside — after which a fire started, which damaged the wiring. As Astra writes, among the teenagers was a 15-year-old native of Ukraine.
