MOSCOW, Nov 24 Argentine President-elect Javier Miley canceled his trip in the United States to begin “forming his working team” before taking office as the head of the country, Telam agency reports, citing sources close to the president.
“Miley canceled a trip to the United States planned for this weekend in order to concentrate on forming his working team,” unnamed sources close to the president told the agency. Earlier, Miley said that before taking office he plans to visit the United States and Israel.
Last Sunday, Miley won the second round of the presidential election, beating Sergio Massa, Argentina's Minister of Economy and candidate from the ruling Union for the Motherland coalition. Miley, who ran for the far-right libertarian Freedom Comes coalition, will take office on December 10.
Miley advocates the abandonment of the local currency in favor of the US dollar, the abolition of the Argentine central bank, withdrawal from the South American trade organization MERCOSUR and supports the idea of rapprochement with the United States and Israel.
