MOSCOW, Nov 24 Russia in the near future will be able to meet the demand for electric vehicles in the EAEU countries, such production will be widespread in other countries of the union, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Alexey Overchuk.
“We believe that in the very near future we will be able to satisfy the demand for electric cars through our own production. I would like to say that Russian electric cars are presented here (at the exhibition — ed.), this production is also beginning to develop in Kazakhstan, I think that it will be widespread widespread,” he said, answering a question from journalists whether Russian electric cars could soon appear on the roads of the EAEU countries.
On Friday, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, together with his colleagues on the EEC Council, inspected the exhibition of Russian electric vehicles at VDNKh.
«»At one of our recent meetings of the EEC Council, our colleagues in the EAEU raised the issue of extending the zero customs duty on the import of electric vehicles into the territory of the EAEU. As a result, a month ago we decided to extend it for another two years. But at the same time, we “We decided to show our colleagues the opportunities that are developing today in the electric vehicle production sector in Russia,” he said.
Overchuk suggested that when the EEC returns to this issue again in two years, “it is quite possible that we will not extend the zero duty.”
On Friday, at VDNKh in Moscow, on the sidelines of the exhibition-forum «Russia», a regular meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission was held, which was chaired by the Chairman of the EEC Council, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk. According to him, the meeting participants expressed sincere interest in the exposition of the Russia exhibition and toured the pavilions of the Russian regions.
