The stylish Topolino electric quadricycle has become the cheapest model in the European Fiat line, in Germany it costs from 9890 euros.
The premiere of the new Fiat Topolino took place in July of this year, sales in Italy began in September, and by that time the “mouse” (as the name Topolino is translated from Italian into Russian) had already collected more than 10,000 pre-orders. Now Topolino is entering greater Europe, accepting orders in Germany this week, and a little later it will be available in other countries.
The new Fiat Topolino and its historical ancestor
The historical ancestor of the Italian novelty was called the Fiat 500 Topolino and was produced from 1936 to 1955 at the legendary Lingotto plant in Turin (an architectural monument). The Fiat 500 Topolino, with very modest dimensions (overall length — less than 3.3 m, wheelbase — 2 m), was a full-fledged car, had a frame design and a very unusual layout: the 569 cc 4-cylinder gasoline engine was located in front of the front axle, and the radiator water cooling was installed behind it with an upward displacement — this solution made it possible to make the hood sloping and achieve good aerodynamic characteristics of the body.

The new Topolino, in turn, is not a full-fledged car, but an electric quadricycle of the L6e class, which, due to its modest technical characteristics, does not require modern expensive passive and active safety systems. In technical terms, the new Topolino is a clone of the already well-known Citroen Ami and Opel Rocks electric cars on the European market, the whole trinity is produced in Morocco at the Stellantis plant in the city of Kenitra, before the start of Topolino production, the capacity of this plant was doubled, to 40,000 cars per year .

The only electric motor at Topolino comrades is installed on the front axle and produces a modest 6 kW (8.2 hp), a full charge of a battery with a capacity of 5.5 kWh is enough for a maximum of 75 km of driving on the WLTP cycle, the maximum speed is limited to 45 km/h.

In terms of design, the new Fiat Topolino is noticeably different from its sister Citroen Ami and Opel Rocks, the “mouse” has its own pretty, pop-eyed expression on its “face”, reminiscent of the classic rear-engine Fiat 500, and generally more round contours — even the wheel arches were redesigned specifically for this models, mirrors and wheel covers have a deliberately vintage design. You can install a metal holder for a suitcase on the stern — it turns out to be a kind of “mouse with a backpack”. Overall length of Topolino — 2535 mm, width — 1400 mm, height — 1530 mm.

For the Topolino two-seater cabin, we have developed our own set of branded accessories, including a large fabric Dolcevita Box with straps securing it (installed on the front panel), a Bluetooth speaker and a high-mounted fan. The beach version of the Dolcevita of the new Topolino does not have side doors (they are replaced by rope barriers) and a hard roof — instead, a fabric roof is installed, which can be rolled up and enjoy the sunshine.
Special styling treatment led to the fact that the Fiat Topolino turned out to be more expensive than the twin brothers Citroen Ami and Opel Rocks; in Germany, the Italian “mouse” costs from 9890 euros, while Opel Rocks can be purchased for 7,990 euros (by the way, Opel Rocks was previously called Rocks-e, but now the Opel brand does not use the letter “e” to designate electric vehicles). Citroen Ami is not officially presented in Germany; in France its minimum price is now the same 7,990 euros.
