MOSCOW, November 25 Maidans in Ukraine do not appear on their own itself, a new Maidan is possible if the United States decides to remove Vladimir Zelensky in this way, and not through elections or resignation, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in an interview.
In November 2013, the main Kiev square — Maidan Nezalezhnosti — was occupied by supporters of European integration, immediately after the government announced the suspension of the signing of the association with the EU. Later, the Maidan became the epicenter of the confrontation between security forces and radicals; clashes resulted in dozens of casualties.
«Maidans do not appear in our country on their own,… Maidans are prepared, (they) invest a lot of money and are implemented according to a certain plan, which has long been clear. There are several points in this plan: demonization of leadership, information zombies and so on,” Azarov said.
He said that Americans were behind the organization of protests in Ukraine in 2004 and 2013. In addition, the ex-prime minister doubted that without the influence of the American embassy and organization from Washington, unrest could begin in Ukraine.
«If the Americans come up with the idea of replacing Zelensky or someone else through the Maidan, they will carry it out. If they replace him in another way, through elections, resignation, they will not organize it. Maidan is a costly event, very expensive. I don’t yet see any signs of preparation for the Maidan,” the former prime minister added.
According to him, Zelensky’s statements that Ukrainians are facing a new Maidan, behind which Russia will stand, are aimed at raising his own rating. Azarov added that he is skeptical about the idea that anti-government protests can take place in the country, since those public opinion leaders who could organize the people “are in prison, or killed, or left the country.”
The former prime minister noted that he considers Zelensky’s statements about the new Maidan only threats.
