
MOSCOW, Nov 22 Former governor of St. Petersburg, Georgy Poltavchenko was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, first degree, for his great contribution to the strengthening of Russian statehood and many years of conscientious work.
The decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on awarding state awards was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
““For his great contribution to the strengthening of Russian statehood and many years of conscientious work, award the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, 1st class, to Georgy Sergeevich Poltavchenko, Actual State Councilor of the Russian Federation, 1st class,” the text of the decree says.
Poltavchenko headed the board of directors of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) from October 2018 to August 2023. From 2011 to October 2018 he was the governor of St. Petersburg, in 2000-2011 — the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District.
