The 2nd Western District Military Court registered a criminal case of preparation to commit high treason (Part 1 of Article 30; Article 275 of the Criminal Code) against Radik Makaev. This follows from the case file on the court website.
Makaev is also accused of attempting to illegally cross the state border (part 3 of article 30; part 1 of article 322 of the Criminal Code) and preparing to participate in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist in Russia (part 1 of article 30; part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).
“Caution, news” found out that before his arrest, 20-year-old Makaev lived in Togliatti, where he practiced judo professionally at the “Granit Center”. As the authors of the telegram channel suggested, the young man tried to cross the border with Ukraine to join the “Freedom of Russia” legion.
Where exactly Makaev tried to cross the border is unknown. The District Military Court hears cases of crimes committed in the Smolensk, Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod and Voronezh border regions.
