In the American state of Connecticut, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, one of the most prominent American politicians who left a significant mark in the history of diplomacy, passed away at the age of 100.
Kissinger was at the forefront of the normalization of relations between the United States and China; thanks to his efforts, the first visit of American President Richard Nixon to China took place in 1972.
«We were deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Henry Kissinger. We express our deep and sincere condolences to his family. Kissinger's death is a huge loss for both our countries and the entire world.» , said Liu Pengyu.
He stressed that the Chinese people will never forget Kissinger, who was an “old friend of China,” as well as his historical contribution to the development of relations and strengthening of friendship between the two peoples.
