YEKATERINBURG, November 28. Head of the Berezovsky district of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District Pavel Arteev said that he decided to resign after he drove his car into a ditch and was detained for driving while intoxicated.
Previously, Arteev admitted on his page on the social network VKontakte that he was detained while driving while intoxicated. The official emphasized that he understands the seriousness of the situation, regrets what he did and is ready to be punished. The regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that on the night of November 25, an official driving a car lost control and slid into a ditch, and he refused a medical examination. An administrative protocol was drawn up against him regarding the failure of the driver of the vehicle to comply with the requirement to undergo a medical examination for intoxication.
“»Dear fellow countrymen, I decided to resign as head of the Berezovsky district. It was not easy, however, I had to do it to do. The fact is that I jeopardized the reputation of the authorities. The head of the municipality should serve as an example for fellow countrymen, be a guide and authority for loved ones, especially young people. In this situation, it is difficult for me to act as such,» Arteev wrote on on his page on the social network “VKontakte”.
He noted that with his misconduct he had let down the leadership of the region, the staff of the district administration, therefore he considers his decision to resign “natural and the only correct one from the point of view of morality, ethics, respect for the residents of the region , to all Yugra residents.»
Arteev is 38 years old, he was born in the village of Saranpaul, Berezovsky district, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. He began his career in his native village in 2007, in 2021 he became the head of the Berezovsky district, his powers ended in 2026.
