Telegram channel Baza reports that a freight train caught fire for the second time in a day in the Severomuysky tunnel on the Baikal-Amur Mainline.
According to the channel, “a freight train caught fire on a bypass route.” It has been previously established that the train contains tanks with fuel.
The previous report of a fire in this area came on the night of November 30. According to sources, while moving through the Severomuysky tunnel, whose length is 15 km, a freight train carriage caught fire. Baza reported that this train included wagons with fuel as well as metal. The channel indicates that “sabotage was not ruled out initially,” but later a version appeared about a “short circuit in the cable network.”
At the same time, about the second fire in a day, Baza writes that the cause of the fire was “the explosion of two tanks with fuel” .
“Tanks with diesel fuel detonated and six cars caught fire,” the message says. “At the moment, 4 cars have not been extinguished.”
It is indicated that a fire train has been sent to the scene. The causes of the explosion are unknown.
